Hi, I want to build a retro Nvidia computer Build.
Purpose play some old games with Windows 2000.

I know that some of the Nforce motherboards are supported in Win2000

Did Nvidia ever manufacture a Socket 755 CPU ?

What Nvidia GPU’s would you use in SLI ? 9600gs or 8400gs ?
What computer case ?
What CPU cooler ?
What Hard-drive ?
What hardware specifics ?

Would you use a pre-built case or design your own?
There are website where you can design and order decals and stickers for a computer case.

I don’t believe Nvidia has ever made an x86 compatible cpu. At on point Nvidia was looking into acquiring a previous x86 licensee (can’t remember which one Via, Transmeta?) so they could get into x86 market but basically discovered the license wouldn't transfer.

It really doesn’t make a lot of sense to SLI with low end cards, in most cases it’s not officially supported and a single highend card is better. Like 8400gs SLI would get beaten by a single 8600GT. If your gonna SLI why not go with a classic setup like 2x 8800gt? Also I’ve never heard about SLI support on Win2k. I’d look carefully into that, you might be in uncharted territory.

Check out DOSBox Distro:

https://sites.google.com/site/dosboxdistro/ [*]

a lightweight Linux distro (tinycore) which boots off a usb flash drive and goes straight to DOSBox.

Make your dos retrogaming experience portable!

You can try the latest blackwingcat drivers with extended kernel, if you don't want to use extended kernel then looks like v197.45 is the latest.
http://blog.livedoor.jp/blackwingcat/archives/1114373.html

If SLI doesn't work with the latested extended kernel you could get in touch with blackwingcat to see if intererested. A new extended kernel was released a couple of days ago.

If you want to make a system that powerful for Win2000 gaming, I'd probably recommend single GPU. Not many games that run on Windows 2000 will utilize that second card anyway. The specs of the system you plan on building sound more XP oriented. I would recommend running XP on such a system. Dual GPUs are supported by Nvidia XP drivers, and every game for Win2k should run the same on XP. As far as GPU's go, I'd recommend dual 8800 GTX cards. They should preform better than the 9600's.
