I have this 486PIG MP046 board which has multi I/O on board but weirdly enough, it doesn't have a floppy controller. I'd like to add a floppy drive (GoTek) so I have at least the ability to do alternative boots.

I was thinking of taking any old multi I/O card, disable everything except the floppy controller and go about it that way, but I was wondering if there would be other possibilities?

You could also use Adaptec ISA SCSI adapter. Many of them have FDD controller.

However, there is also no serial/mouse port, so you will have to put in some sort of controller anyway.

Just get any old ISA multi i/o card and don't use the IDE part of it. They cost penny and will give you all the ports you need. No brainerr really.

Most multi I/O cards with IDE have jumpers to disable the IDE, just make sure you don't have both the motherboard and I/O board jumpered to both use the same IDE port and enabled at the same time
