I've got this HP Vectra VL that I'm trying to figure out how to open up. As far as I understand, step 1 is removing the front panel by unlocking the 2 clips on the bottom of the case. I can't seem to get them into the open position. I suspect that the clips might be installed incorrectly. Does anybody here have a similar machine they might be able to check if the clips look like mine?

Here's a view of the bottom of the case with the front facing to the left.

Sorry no but did you read the manual, specifically: https://www.manualslib.com/manual/276849/Hp-V … ?page=29#manual
It would help if you showed a picture of the front of the case because diff models had diff cases....

Hate posting a reply and then have to edit it because it made no sense 😁 First computer was an IBM 3270 workstation with CGA monitor. Stuff: https://archive.org/details/@horun

Yeah you have to pull the cover from the front. If it's stuck the key lock is probably set. You should be able to force it though but I don't remember how (I think the youtuber uxwbill made a video about this)

It's a Vectra VL5/200. I found the manual online here: http://pdfstream.manualsonline.com/b/bd541704 … 8fc3394997d.pdf

Page 19 describes how to open the case.

I'm still thinking the issue is that the clips are installed incorrectly. They move, but seem to be blocked by the chassis which prevents fully unlocking. You can see what I mean:

Well push them the closest to the middle you can get and then pull the cover from the front. It's normal that they stop moving.

Nope, that's the correct way. Slide them both towards the middle and then puil the case towards you away from the rear of the machine.

Got it. I'm a goof. I guess I was just being too delicate with it. Gave it another try and was able to slide the top of the case forward and lift it off.

Thanks everyone!
