I have a 386sx with an OAK vga card, a multi I/O card with a 2,5gb hd ( EZ bios ) and the floppydrive. 4mb ram and no jumpers on the mobo worth noting.

I install msdos 6.22 with or without win3.1 ( tried both given the situation ) and in no way I can get a serial mouse working. Well I got one of my ten mouses working once in DOS while it didn’t in win3.1 .

I tried 2 i/o controllers working fine in another machine, both on standard config for COM1 and COM2. Jumpered them for COM3 and COM4, Tried on all ports in all possible combinations with all my mice... they behave the same with all possible mousedrivers: Cutemouse, Microsoftmouse, Logitech mouse for the logitech mice I have.

I have don’t have too much experience with old x86 so this is beyond me. Everything works in another 386.

Sounds like a port address conflict. Need more info: What make and model motherboard ? What make and model I/O card ?

Hate posting a reply and then have to edit it because it made no sense 😁 First computer was an IBM 3270 workstation with CGA monitor. Stuff: https://archive.org/details/@horun

I have these two i/o cards.

One Goldstar that has simple jumpers to choose between com1/3, com2/4, etcetera.

A winbond that has more jumpers to swap ports around, disable things and choose IRQ but whatever I tried didn't really help. That included turning everything of to save IRQs ( disable com2, printerport, ... ) so just this and the vga board.
