I've got an HP Vectra P3 500mhz 512Meg RAM. It works like a charm. Just can't figure out why the CD-rom and CD-burner only read original CD's, like audio or software.
They both won't read burned discs.
The CDRom drive and burner are original HP. Is it timeperiod of those drives, there aged, why it won't read modern burned discs?
Is there a way to change this, without swapping the drives for newer ones?
Thanks!

Probably means that it's only a CD-ROM reader, so burned CD-R's won't work. A bit odd, considering my 1998 Compaq supports DVD-ROMs and CD-R's as well.

Hi,
Removed the drives. Burner dates from 98 and the cd from 99. Possible theyre worn out.
I bought replacements, an hp dvd burner and hp dvd reader drive.

So it was strange to me that original drives didn't read them. Think its aged and done for.
