While I'm slowly building up a 386DX system, I'm looking into the cache I need for the board I'm working on. It's an Austin 33VL Symphony chipset 386DX board, supporting the 33MHz and 40MHz chips according to internet resources.
The problem is that I can't quite seem to figure out what exact chips I should hunt for, especially the TAG. According to Stason.org, for 128KB or 256KB of cache, I'd need 32Kx8 chips (one bank of four for 128KB, two banks for 256KB), and then two 64Kx4 TAG chips.

I tried looking online, but I can seemingly only find 28-pin chips in the wrong formfactor (SOJ instead of DIP). What exactly should I look for? What sort of ns speed would be recommended for a 386DX40? I'm afraid this kind of thing is a bit beyond me, so I hope someone can help me to find the right chips. If I really am going to have to find a way to convert those SOJs to DIP, that's fine, but I do need to know if that would even work. Or would 32Kx8 work in place of 64Kx4, perhaps?
