I recently repaired an old athlon xp board I had, which had a damaged trace leading from one of the dimm slots. I used a single copper strand taken from one of the wires of an old usb cable. Everything works great now, but I'm wondering what I should cover this with. It's pretty delicate and small and I need to protect it somehow. Since I don't do this often, buying a bottle of conformal coating doesn't seem practical. I was thinking about some ordinary 2-part epoxy, but that would be irreversible, plus maybe corrosive--I don't know. Maybe something as simple as tape? Maybe a dab of hot glue? Ideas?
