Hello all, I've just acquired an old Dell Optiplex 466/L in fully working order. I happen to have a few socket 7 CPUs in storage including a Pentium 100.

Would anyone here know if this would be compatible with this machine?

I've tried looking for the service manual for the PC but I've not had much luck so far. Any assistance would be appreciated.

Isn't the 466 a 486 machine? I just did a quick google search and those pointed to it being a 486. I have an Optiplex GL5100 which is a socket 5. Have you opened it up and checked out what the socket says?

I've just managed to open it up. Yep, I was wrong. It's running a 486 dx2 66mhz so no socket 7 will fit. I managed to find the spec manual and it states I can upgrade to a 486 dx4 100mhz so I'm gonna find one of those to use.
