After a recent topic around EPROM programming, I was wondering if someone has a list somewhere of the most common EEPROM chips that one can use on older motherboards as replacements for their older EPROM counterparts.

Wikipedia has a nice list of the various EPROM sizes and the types, but I'm looking for a list of the various EEPROM sizes and their "model" numbers (types):

Most part names are very similar, except they seem to have part numbers starting 27, 28 or 29. I think Atmel 28Cxxx are the most common.
