User Adalbert posted pictures of his awesome open AT case in this thread: Little Voodoo (cardboard) Box [P1] + 486 with small DIY AT case

I love the idea of having multiple minimal retro builds (probably all ATX) like this on a desk but enclosed in acrylic. Building those cases will be one challenge, but I'm looking ahead to see if anyone uses a solution to share one PSU with multiple builds.

For my purposes, it wouldn't have to be able to power multiple machines simultaneously. I more imagine 3 or 4 computers on a desk with a 4-port KVM switch plus some sort of 4-port PSU switcher that can be switched to send power to any one of the machines from a PSU that's mounted out of sight below the desk. That way the minimalist builds can shine and the focus is solely on the hardware in them with no cases or PSUs obstructing the view.

Does anyone have a PSU sharing solution, or a similar setup with multiple minimalist custom or non-traditional cases?

Thanks for noticing that old thread 😀 here is a more up-to-date version of that "nano-tower" case: Miniature SS7 K6-2 + Voodoo Banshee PC

I also recently made a simple acrylic open test bench for full ATX mainboard + SFX power supply and uploaded the template: Re: What retro activity did you get up to today?
Maybe something like that would be enough? SFX is much smaller than ATX, but obviously still visible.

How much power do you expect these machines to consume? As long as you are not building something like Voodoo2 SLI with Athlon CPU, maybe you could just use multiple Pico ATX/ Pico PSU power supplies and a single 12V power brick.

Wow, I LOVE both of those designs! The acrylic plate you made is beautiful and pretty much exactly what I'm imagining, except one that could stand on its side plus maybe a cover to keep out dust when not in use. I downloaded your PDF template. I've never hired anyone for laser cutting so any advice on what type of machine would be needed would be appreciated!

I realize that I could use 4 SFX or Pico PSUs, but the dream is to be as absolutely minimal as possible. All builds will be able to PXE boot for installing OSes, use SSDs, and rely on my retro network instead of floppy/optical media. With the lack of all of those components, eliminating the need for each build to have its own PSU is my last challenge. Plus one of my systems would be an Athlon XP so the idea that I could re-cap one good beefy PSU with strong +5V rails, mount it out of the way, and be covered for whatever build I decide to display on the desk is really appealing to me!
