Does the same.. just hangs after memory test..

update.

So. decided to test once more this epox board.

now. if i use the post card on the PCIO slot it gives me error 26/25
but if i use the post card on the ISA bus, i get past that code the error stays in FF/52

aldo the situation of the board doest have changed.

NOW: award bios
FF--> T 19H boot attempt. The main board is ok
52 -->Initialize option ROMs from C8000h to EFFFFh or if FS can enabled to F7FFFh

any ideas ?

With my experiences with Epox boards from that era I wouldn´t bother troubleshooting any longer before all the capacitors in the power supply circuits have been replaced.
Capacitors with reduced or no capacity produce the craziest errors. Many of the defective caps don´t show any visible changes.
As a result the voltages (IO, core...) are often unstable or they show overlaying ripples of high frequency AC components.
I would recap and try again.

Yeah, it is possible capacitors are dead (or almost). So it is best to replace them. Or at least hook up an osciloscope and check how the CPU voltage looks like.

But... thats, 16 caps... expensive caps.... if that dont work either, the money i have put on buying this system and the recap will be crazy... (for Portugal standards)..
I dont know, have to think about it...

Even high quality caps are not that expensive.
Low ESR Panasonics costs something like €0.5 each.
Lower quality ones maby half that.
And any fresh cap will be better then old dried out ones.
And you don't have to replace all caps on the board, the ones around the CPU will to wonders for the stability.

IMO its worth it to restore another K7 system.

Just replace the capacitors in the stepdown regulators as marked in the picture:

Bought at a decent retailer or distributor and in small numbers like this it´s no big deal.

Those Epox boards were top quality - except for the caps.
