HP 6020e external SCSI 2x CD-ROM drive - under Win98 / DOS 6.22

Hi all,
I recently got this lovely HP external drive, model 6020e, apparently a writer, with SCSI to LPT cable.
I got it primarily for use with my Compaq Presario 460 under DOS.
However I intially tested it under WinXP, no drivers needed - works but is picky about scratched CDs.
Win98 system did not recognize it.
Can anyone of you kindly point me to set of drivers for Win98 and DOS, or instructions on how to make such drive work?
I don't have any experience with such drives whatsoever.

It could be included on this disc:
https://archive.org/details/hpsurestorecdwriter

The 6020i should be the internal version and drivers should be interchangeable. The driver floppy is included on archive.org

Since you mention you had a SCSI to LPT cable you most likely have the 6020EP which includes:

HP SureStore 6020ep includes: External drive, software, parallel converter cable, auto-ranging power supply, audio connector cable, blank HP SureStore recordable CD and manuals.

I believe the following is the file you're after.

6EPUTIL.EXE 701 kB (2/1/97)
Parallel installation diskette part number 83-287A1-101 for the 6020ep drive. This contains the parallel-to-SCSI drivers for Windows 3.x and Windows 95. It also includes the Windows 95 ASPI layer update, CD-diagnostic utility, and the CDR4VSD.VXD file required for use in Windows 95.

Shuttle Technologies, the manufacturer of our parallel-to-SCSI convertor cable for the 6020ep, maintains a list of their most recent drivers and technical tips. The 6020ep uses the EPST model device.

For DOS you probably need Shuttle's parallel-to-SCSI driver, EPST.

There are also EPST drivers for other operating systems if needed: https://www.driverguide.com/driver/detail.php … 204a64a6edb8e90

Update - I finallyI tried these under Win 3.1 - short little installation - and it works no problem. Also works in DOS after installation, so thank you so much, again!
