There have been a few guys that have managed to make the i-RAM drives work outside of a motherboard and I will soon have one and may want to do something similar.

while some of the solutions are easily reversible none of them seem very elegant
there are two things I want to try and figure out

-a larger battery

-a better, nicer looking way to power the card outside of the slot

I'm thinking maybe one of those external pci express to pci boards may be what I am looking for except just without plugging the pci express part in.

and as for the battery possibly something along the lines of a 18650 pack on leads paralleled into the external battery connector

anyone else here have one?

here is a collection of information about other mods that people have done

this one doesn't look too bad

What's the ultimate aim? The PCI bus is going to be a huge bottleneck compared to a modern SATA port or even a single lane pcie.

it uses sata for data
aim is to install page file on it to avoid wearing out ssd
