Cool, congrats on the mission accomplished! Is it so expensive as they say?

Wrong question, should had said worth it the expense, especially with hard to get retro hardware?

Polymer capacitors are not expensive as they are now compared to back in the day with these low esr electrolytic capacitors were.

Just that the shill sellers are thinking these low esr and polymers are "upgrade" or expensive parts even these are routinely used in motherboard, and SMPS for little cost. Just search long and get good price for these.

Cheers,

Great Northern aka Canada.

EDIT: pentiumspeed you're right, totally worth it!!

The total cost for the components was around 25 euros. If you have access to better channels, then I think it can also be done for under 20 euros.
Besides that, it took me all afternoon to replace the caps.

In return I got a working motherboard, with a unique chipset. Gained a lot of knowledge about capacitors and practiced my soldering skills. So yes, totally worth it 😉
