I have an older cdrom, the tray doesnt open when i press the button, after using the manual eject hole 2-3 times to open it,it starts working fine, until i turn the pc off and leave it turned off for a while.
Then when starting the pc again the problem comes back.
Is there a fix for it?

Different drives are constructed in different ways. There's no real solution except to open the drive up and see if you can spot where the mechanism is failing. It may indeed be a matter of getting a new belt.

Time for a new belt.

a belt is good, though jumper cables are better !

Right to repair is fundamental. You own it, you're allowed to fix it.

It could be the belt, but I have overtightened the screws on multiple drives before and it can cause this issue. Before you do anything difficult just remove it from the mount all together and run it loose. Mounting pressure can effect the drive.
