Hello,

I posses a HP VL2 4/66, the cpu is the 486dx2 (none wb) and it is plugged on a socket 3 working on 5v. I was wondering if I might be able to plug a dx4-100, but reading the hp 486 handbook it looks like that it's not possible (page 202) (that's my guess). I also read the vogons wiki on this subject (socket 1 2 3).
I guess the mother board should have a voltage jumper but mine (D3126-630011) doesn't seem to be equiped with that feature.
Reading this handbook, it's just like you have to possess the VL2 DX4-100 motherboard (D3172-630011) to upgrade to a DX4-100 cpu which confuse me.

I also read this vogons post Amd 5x86 133 on vl2 4/66 oc 150 showed DX4 200 on boot and it looks like the authors (amstrad1640) used to plug a dx4 100 in his HP VL2 4/66. Maybe he is using a voltage regulator on the socket 3 top ?

Anyway, if one of you knows something about this, it will be much appreciated,

Thank you for your time

Yorik

The AMD5x86 133 will have an interposer with a 3 volt regulator on it much like my Kingston TurboChip: 5x86 133

There's a glitch in the matrix.

Of course, as always, I'm open to correction...😉

Thank you very much for your answer. I found one of this devices.

Just a last question, on this motherboard, I have a wt/wb (write back/through) jumper. This have nothing to do with voltage I guess, it simply enables the feature WB that some cpu's have ?
