I'm just trying to get TCP/IP working from my router to this Windows 3.11 PC. I've done a fresh install of DOS 6.22. Followed up with a fresh install of Windows 3.11. I then copied over and extracted the 3Com drivers and TCPIP32B update. I then clicked on Network Setup-Install Microsoft Windows Network-No Additional network-Clicked on Network Drivers-Add Adapter-point it to the 3Com WIN311 drivers-Clicked Add Protocol-Point it to TCPIP32B-everything installs-enabled DHCP server and made TCP/IP the only protocol so default and Windows restarts PC. When Windows 3.11 boots back up it tells me: The Windows for Workgroups Network was not started. Check your configuration, or run Setup again to set up Windows for Workgroups properly.

I've been able to confirm that the 3COM works correctly in both Windows 95 OSR 2.5 & Windows 98SE.

Do you have the networking card configured for plug and play or it resources are fixed? Maybe it requires its resources to be reserved on the BIOS?

There's a configuration/diagnostic tool for DOS that's not part of the driver diskettes.
It can test the 3com chip, disable/enable boot rom socket, set resources etc.

I have networking working on my 386 and 486 computers.
I use the 3com 3c509b network card which has great support and was a very popular network card back in 1993.
It has native support in Win-3.11
I dont install the TCP/IP 32b update package because its not needed.
“WFW Win-3.11”
Should have everything you need. No need to install the update TCP/IP32b package.
