Hi all,

Had a recent retro haul and in one of the boxes was this card labelled Micro 286. Looks to be a 286 accelerator card.

Anyone have any experience with this one? Know where to find the manual?
It looks similar to one listed on minuszerodegrees as well as similar to one branded Orchid. Silkscreen on the underside is well labelled so I should be able to figure out most of the dip switches.

Oh and before those with sharp eyes mention it, yup looks like someone didn't know the difference between an 8088 and an 80287 processor since that is what they put in the 80287 socket on the card. Going to have to pull that out before fooling around with this card.

Thanks.

I’ve often wondered why 8087/80287 weren’t made to be interchangeable

Then 8088 folks could “upgrade” to a slower more feature rich FPU and 286 folks could reuse their old reliable when upgrading

Seems like a waste considering the 8087 had less overhead and functionally everything needed to support both chips was already on 286 boards.

Somewhat like using a 287 on a 386 which was a thing.

Ah well
