Lately I've acquired some 1,44 floppy disks in a bunch of untested hardware. As a quick test, I tried a format on it and add you can guess: half of them show bad sectors. Some just 9k, some over 500k. Sometimes they are ok after a second format, mostly not.
Usually I just collect broken floppy disks and donate them to a local home for the mentally challenged, so they can reuse them to make birthday postcards or something.
Now I've started wondering. Had somebody ever accomplished revive these bad sectors?
It's not like I'm going to use floppy disks for critical data storage, but they come in handy sometimes.
