(quick edit)

There's the general idea and the files.

Key'd so the user shouldn't put the pieces together wrong. Should be mechanically good for a panel mount socket cutout or something.
I added some random amount of clearance in the hole for that slight rounding you get with milling.
I'd guess that you could press the two together and fiction would hold it together while you stick it together properly.

I didn't add the vias so the in the files still just has pads because it's too late for anything else right now and I want to go to bed.

Better or nah?

I suppose why not.
This was just a quick edit to show the idea. I didn't edit the pads or foot prints for it.

edit: keep in mind that the images are taken in Fusion. I export the step files from kicad and import them into fusion so they can go together but the export doesn't include the pads so I added a basic shape in Fusion to where the pads are in the kicad.

I’m thinking that small tabs give a stronger cross section because of where that screw notch is.

May be over thinking this but that’s half the fun, figuring out how to make the best way possible 🤣

Eh, on second thought both ways is fine, but adding a third side seems like a good idea. Also plated edges

That pad may be too close to the screw.

Smoker huh?

I bought a processor once, opened it up and car instantly smelled like smoke… ugh..

You should make separate threads 😀 have a build thread and a thread for the bracket also

Keeps things organized and easier to search

Not smoke, just the smell of dry mould

Also the socket 7 has it's own thread!

Hi, just to let people know.

The male to male ps/2 cable I ordered arrived and it is perfect for this. No need for any modification, just a ps/2 male to male and a ps/2 to din adapter.
I suppose the best thing for end user to say that the PS/2 port is the default with the option of the din port for people willing to mod a midi cable.

Sweet! Not much need for a large din on the pcb then, as user can adapt easy enough. Though I like having options

No not much need for the din anymore.
But since the traces are routed and pretty, i think I'll leave the foot print as is.

Hello!

It was long put off but I've finally ordered the PCB's from JLC with assembly. I ordered 10 since the price difference between 10 boards and 5 boards wasn't even a 10'er
I've checked and doubled checked and I'm pretty sure my circuit is correct for the parts I've ordered.

It would seem that JLC decided that the PWR led should be backwards. Oh well, not a big deal to swap that around by hand.

They actually swapped the footprint?

When you order the smt process you have to send in the BOM and CPL files as well. BOM is just reference number and jlc part number, cpl is reference number, location and rotation.

Kicad can make the cpl for you but i find it always gets the rotation wrong.
Jlc checks your work before production and they fix your cpl file for you if the parts are all over the place.

It seems like they decided to flip the pwr led, so it's not gonna work. Unless they know something i don't.
