EDIT: dma still not working, found some info that txpro has a chipset bug and it will not work, too bad.

What exactly do you mean about DMA ?
I used this model of motherboard. Back then when I installed the IDE miniport driver I saw dramatically lesser CPU usage in the HDTach test.
I used maybe one of the first UDMA33 model of Seagate - ST31722A. So I think the UDMA 33 works. Although I'm not sure about Multiword DMA Mode.

When i enable dma under device manager system refuses to boot. Also under bios i only get pio mode and during post it says udma capable but not enabled.

Using wd400.

Did you install the ALI IDE miniport driver ?

Tried installing the driver from v2.3 cd but installer said that it is already installed. Is there any other driver out there?

I don't remember exactly the version I used. But (IIRC) there was no any checkbox to activate DMA/UDMA in the device manager. And if the driver installed properly the device manager showed the real model of HDD instead of something like "Disc Drive Type 47"

Oh well in that case i am missing the proper ide driver, will try to locate it. Thank you

Finally found the correct version and windows booted after intalling it under safe mode.
