Hey all,

I have an ATI 3D Rage II video card here, and I was wondering what the parallel sets of 54 pin headers is for. The only reference I can find online is on Wikipedia where there is a photo of an addon board called the Vertex M1. Does anyone have any information about the Vertex M1, what it's purpose is or anywhere one can be found for purchase? Ebay seems to not have anything.

I think those pins are for a video RAM upgrade board.

Makes sense, they are right above and below the onboard memory circuits. My guess is they are meant for 2 MB boards to upgrade to 4 MB. I don't think any of these had more than 4 MB from the factory.

I stand corrected, they came with 4MB from the factory and could be upgraded to 8MB, allowing for 1280x1024 3d rendering.
