I would like to add a minimum of 4GB of memory to my DOS PC for a RAM disk, but the motherboard only supports 768MB.

Is there a way to add more? Perhaps on a PCI card?

The Gigabyte i-RAM looks like one way to do it, but they're quite pricey and use a SATA port rather than direct PCI communication.

PCI is limited to 33mhz and to my knowledge never had memory expansion devices made for it

It is possible disk cache schemes were made but I’m not aware of any of those either (besides that sata memory disk thing)

AGP had proprietary cards made that included a small amount of very fast memory to accelerate onboard video but again not aware of anything purpose built for ram expansion

That said on a 486/early Pentium such things could be useful in pci form would need to develop our own design
