To whomever may find this useful:
This schematic is a reference to the GamePort to USB adapter [Part No. 98427] that came INCLUDED with SOME Microsoft SideWinder GAMEPORT gaming controllers.
So be advised: it does NOT work with every SideWinder gameport peripheral! And it may even damage it, or your computer, if the peripheral was not meant (from the factory) to use such a cable.
This is suitable only in situations where you've lost the original that came bundled with the controller/peripheral... and/or you know for a FACT that that exact peripheral supports it

As an example, we have two VISUALLY IDENTICAL gameport joysticks (exception being only the name/writing underneath their base) :
- The Microsoft SideWinder Precision Pro Joystick - Part No.: X03-57540 [came with a bundled adapter]
- The Microsoft SideWinder 3D Pro Plus Joystick - Part No. not printed [did NOT came with a bundled adapter, and DOES NOT work with one]

Now with that out of the way, here it is:

You can also get one of those Belkin GamePort DB-15 to USB adapters. They actually do work as long as you connect pin 2 & 7 on your joystick with a small wire first.
