I am looking for a person who would be able to check two things on a working diamond mx300.

1. Resistance between ground and + 5V line.
2. How warm is the main AU8830 chip. I don't mean the exact temperature, but whether it is lukewarm, warm or very hot.

I am trying to find the cause of the failure of my sound card - the card is not detected by the system. The chip is the hottest spot on the card. Moreover, between the ground and + 5V line I have about 20 ohms, it seems to be a shortage. I could desolder the AU chip to see if the resistance increases, but this is quite a complicated operation for me and I don't want to do it until I'm sure it makes sense. Perhaps such resistance and temperature are normal for this card. Then I would look elsewhere for the problem without messing around hot-airing AU chip. I really care about repairing this card, I've always wanted it but it's hardly available in UK or the prices on ebay are ... not encouraging.
