When it comes to video cards i always wanted to know how to detect what type of problem does the old retro card has by just looking at it.
I always wanted to know how to figure out if its one of the memory chips or if its the GPU that has the issues.
there are many many different types of errors and colors when you connect a faulty videocard.

Can anyone share examples of :

1) a video card memory issue
2) A gpu videocard issue

for example this, is this a memory or a gpu issue?

another card i have problems with is a radeon9800 pro, was sold as working , but looking at it in detail the screen looks perfect while playing for example doom
but as you play, few pixels on the screen change its form, from time to time. would that be GPU?

You can try video memory test CE to find issues with VRAM. But if your GPU has a defect that prevents it from adressing parts of memory the test can not differentiate.
