Dear Vogoners,

I'm having a hard time getting a WDC / Paradise WD90C31A-LR card working in my 286.

The card works fine in a Compaq Prolinea 575 so that's ruled out.

When the card installed, I get these beep codes:
1x long, 3x short (video error I guess)
1x long, 3x short (video error, again)
long, short, long, long, short, short (unknown)

I tried all the jumpers on the mainboard and also on the graphics card, but no avail.
Also tried several dip switch settings for the on-board VGA chip, but no cigar.
Am I missing a signal from the ISA bus needed for the card? Am I missing an oscillator on the card so the card will work on older systems?
Unfortunately I do not have another ISA VGA card laying around to check the ISA riser.

Thanks in advance! 😀

Update:

Jumper W54 seems to disable the onboard VGA. The Paradise / WD90C31A-LR is now working.

But a new problem arose. Maybe because of a lot of turning off and on, the keyboard controller is giving errors (error 17), and the three keyboard leds are emitting constantly.
For now I am trying a cmos reset; I cut the power to the (already depleted) Dallas.
