I pulled down a BIOS update and they forgot to remove the changelog was uploading! I have attached it, it is a fun read to see the problems they were debugging at the time.
Has anyone ever done BIOS programming before? Did OEMs get the full source/building system from companies like Phoenix and then make modifications? Interesting to see they were debugging/fixing specific hardware.
I want to see if I can make some modifications to the BIOS myself. I have a CH341A (from another project) and just bought a PLCC32 adapter, so should be dumping it soon. Would be cool if I could just replace the Compaq bootsplash with something else, then I will go from there! My big goal is to increase the limits on drive geometry. Right now the BIOS can only do 15 heads, but I have a drive with 240.
I wonder if it would be possible to get another BIOS working on this board? Not a lot of information out there on it, can only seem to find it on eBay https://www.ebay.com/itm/123652662987
