Gotek on 386

Greetings,
I'm putting together a 386, and opted for a 5.25inch A drive, and Gotek B drive, in lieu of a 3.5 inch floppy. This morning I installed a couple of things off the gotek, and copied some install files over to the hard drive. Took a break, and now I cannot get the gotek to work.
When the PC boots, the activity light comes up first on the A drive, then the B drive, but I’m unable to change disks. No matter what buttons I press, the display stays at 000
Things I’ve tried:

+ confirmed the usb thumb drive works on another gotek emulator in a separate PC, no problems
+ replaced the gotek with a physical floppy drive, no problems
+ checked cables, and used different power cables to the gotek
I’m thinking that the gotek has died after 30 minutes use, but are there any other user errors that could be a factor, before I return it? I don’t really want to pull my second gotek out of another build, but that would probably give more information.

A second issue with this 386, I regularly get parity errors on boot with this PC. If I get it to boot without the issue, it's generally fine. Does that point to the RAM being at fault?

Thanks, J

Yes you could have memory issues ! I would run a mem test !
Also: Gotek's, XT-IDE, etc newer technology will run on most all older systems but not all.
What motherboard ? What other ISA cards ? What OS ? etc are needed to properly help...

Hate posting a reply and then have to edit it because it made no sense 😁 First computer was an IBM 3270 workstation with CGA monitor. Stuff: https://archive.org/details/@horun

This is on a DOS system, will have to check the motherboard version. There is a video card, IO controller card, and an SB Pro 2 in there.

I tried the wonky gotek on another system and it works fine. Not the easy solution I was hoping for. I may just run this system with original hardware only and use the floppy drives and bulk burn games onto a CD and copy them over.
