Anyone able to design a 3d print that allows me to gut a gotek and install it in a card slot?

Would be nice to have the oled and rotary dial also.

My new case doesn’t have drive bays.

Wouldn't it be super inconvenient to have to reach behind the case every time you want to swap disks?

Wait. Why in Wayne's Worl.. , err, why on earth would anybody do that? 🤷‍♂️
Designing a PC case without any drive bays, I mean.

How to install a fan control, a card reader etc?
Especially card readers must be replaced every few years, due to them becoming obsolete.
At least a 3,5" slot is a must-have feature, isn't it? 🙂

Hm. How about using a long FDC ribbon cable and an external enclosure?
There are some 3D printed Gotek chassis for the Amiga / Atari platforms.
Be careful with the power, though.
A separate PSU coukd cause trouble with ground loops etc.
Maybe using the 5v from USB? If the chassis has a spare USB connector from its hub..
Making an DIY USB to FDC-power cable should be doable.

Not really 🤷‍♂️ Easy to reach.

Modern cases are ditching the bays. Usb and 2.5” handles everything these days

Actually, what about putting it on the atx I/O

Could 3d print a rear i/o shield with a 3-1/4 bay on it

Idea #2 (or #4), as my father would say - get a jigsaw and make the case have a 3,5"drive bay (aka fix the damn case). 😁

Edit: Or a Dremel tool, not sure.

Anyway, not sure what else to say.
Slot brackets for SD/CF adapters exists, but for Goteks.. Not sure. Maybe it's possible to use the bracket of an old USB controller card
and screw the Gotek to a Veroboard or any other board? 🤷‍♂️

Edit: Fixed the quote.

Yeah, I was thinking a 3d print would be best

It could be made to tab into the slot and mount the gotek guts well and centered
