also try issuing the " fdisk /mbr " command, since in the photo it mentions unknown IPL for the MBR bootrecord.

yes but this could cause a mess when the boot disk is for a different version of windows, no?

Yes it did. Now it says that the operating system is missing in English instead. Oh well. Probably the best alternative is to just install a fresh install of Windows 95. It was a fun experiment after all!

did you check which partition is set active using the dos fdisk command ?

edit: FYI
These are the error messages normally found on an old MBR
- Invalid partition table
- Error loading operating system
- Missing operating system

and this is the error from the boot sector, PBR of a dos 5 fat formatted disk
- Non-System disk or disk error Replace and press any key when ready

Right to repair is fundamental. You own it, you're allowed to fix it.

I will check tomorrow! But why isnt the computer simply booting the OS since I've typed in the right CHS parameters? I managed to start some games from the HDD while booted from the floppy disk. It's windows 95 that's on the computer, that's for sure.

also check which files are in the root directory of the drive, dir /A
I don't know why.
I guess, it seems like the MBR doesn't see the partition boot record. so maybe that is damaged, or the wrong partition is set active or ... .
