Hello folks,
I have become a proud owner of IBM PC/XT with two FDDs. As I do not have a suitable MFM disk controller I'll use floppies. I have tested both FDDs and they both read floppies well. I have downloaded PC DOS img file from :
https://winworldpc.com/product/pc-dos/2x
I have copied PC-DOS disk 1 onto 360K floppy using 360K floppy drive and I'm getting ' non-system disk' error. What I'm doing wrong? Do that floppy need to be formatted in any special way?
Thanks for Your help.

Yep needs to be imaged to the floppy, also pre DOS 3.3 needs IO.SYS written to the floppy first before Command.com and MSDOS.SYS plus the other files iirc.

Hate posting a reply and then have to edit it because it made no sense 😁 First computer was an IBM 3270 workstation with CGA monitor. Stuff: https://archive.org/details/@horun

Copying the files won't work, it needs to be "imaged" to include the boot sector and hidden files.

I use WinImage for floppies.

Thanks a lot, it helped
