I came across a review of the Hot-597 where it states:

I have not seen this mentioned anywhere else and was curious if there were undocumented settings and if so how would you go about finding it? Do I just set the multiplier at 2x and start flipping switches? Below is what the manual states:

What multipler you want to use Depends on which cpu you are using? Which one do you have? Late model k6 cpus remap 2x to 6x so for them 2.5x is probably advised.

Edit: I think I am recalling that 2.5x is only settable through software on + cpus. So 3x may be the lowest hardware settable multiplier on late model k6.
