Hi,
Yesterday i want to use one of my old 486 Systems. unfortunately i recorgnized an bad smell.
On the PCB of my conner CFA340A Drive seems an tantalum resistor burned.
Because of the burning i cannot read the specification on the resistor.
Does someone have the same drive and can tell me which one i need ?

FYI, a tantalum is a capacitor, most of the time those yellow/orangi ones, like the one marked 4µ7 35V ... not a resistor.

I still have a few conner drives, maybe I have the same one as you, I'll have a look and get back to you if something turns up.

edit: a quick look around didn't give me the same drive as yours, but a cp30174 does seem to have a similar capacitor to your drive.
The markings on it are A6µS, which I'm guessing means 6µF 10V .

Right to repair is fundamental. You own it, you're allowed to fix it.

Hi,
Stupid me, you are absolutly right 😀

Thank you for your help. I will try an 6µF 10V capacitor.

Hopefully that my drive will come to live again 😀

That´s strange, there´s no E-series that contains the value 6.0

https://www.eevblog.com/forum/beginners/commo … pacitor-values/

and I have never seen a 6.0µF (tantalum) capacitor.

Just wondering if there´s another code applying here?

You are right. lousy guess of mine.
Found a picture of the pcb using google and while fuzzy, it looks like it indicates 1-35. So 1µF 35V .

edit, and offcourse the resizing algo makes it a bit more fuzzy.
