VOGONS

I have a Voodoo Rush (single planar with AT25)that I cannot get working properly in GL Quake, Quake 2 (opengl), or Unreal Tournament (glide). These have frame flicking and frames of corruption. A bunch of other titles all work fine. Quake 3 with voodoo mode works fine.

I started with my Athlon 800 system and a fresh Win98SE install. I've since moved to a Pentium 200 system, and experience the same thing. I've tried every driver I can find for the rush - 4 different compatible packages I found across the web.

The closest search result I found was Problems with a Voodoo Rush card, but it hasn't helped me. I have been working on this for way too many hours.

Does anyone have suggestions for a fix for these games (and probably others I haven't tried)?

Try "gl_triplebuffer 0" in the glquake console.

Asus P4P800 SE/Pentium4 3.2E/2 Gb DDR400B,
Radeon HD3850 Agp (Sapphire), Catalyst 14.4 (XpProSp3).
Voodoo2 12 MB SLI, Win2k drivers 1.02.00 (XpProSp3).

Tried this in glquake - no change. Image is still flashing on and off maybe 5 times per second like a strobe.

Here's a couple short clips from yesterday of Quake 2 and Unreal Tournament's menu. Video framerate doesn't catch all the frame transitions, but that doesn't matter.

Download 3Dfx miniGl version 1.48 and manually install it in any game-folder. Dont forget to rename 3dfxglam.dll to 3dfxgl.dll for Quake2.

Need help? Begin with photo and model of your hardware 😉

That did it. Now sure why I couldn't find this information online, but the card is running great now. Faster than I would have thought, with the Rush's reputation.

1.49 version is Athlon optimized 😉

Wasn't planning on running an old Rush on an Athlon - I just had a socket A motherboard to test out!

Just buttoning up testing some full pc parts, which will need to be stored away for awhile (thinkpads will take over 9x and xp duty for awhile). Just have the rest of a free-pile pickup to test; a socket 5 mb, slot 1 mb, original sb16, awe64, some other diamond videocard.
