I have a Packard Bell Multimedia SB610 and a Compaq Presario 5170 that I wanted to change out the PSU in each, just for sanity’s sake. But since mentioning it once in a separate thread, I’ve been alerted that some PSUs of the era may use standard AT plugs, but have proprietary wiring - so if I use an ATX-to-AT adapter with a new PSU, I might blow everything up.

What’s the most effective method of determining if a vintage AT PSU uses standard or proprietary pin out arrangements? I’ve tried looking for service documentation for each of these models online, and while I did find some for the Compaq, I didn’t find anything for either detailing the PSU or the pin arrangement on their respective motherboards. There are no indicators on the frame of the PSUs or the motherboards themselves either.
