What kind of chip is this? I'll need to select in my software before copying. I don't see an actual brand on the chip besides that big S, but I do see an option for a generic "27C512", and also another option under the "??? " brand that says "27C512-12.7V".

The keyboard chip is an EEPROM since there is no window. It says:

123101
M5L8042-189P

It has the Mitsubishi logo too so the brand is obvious. I don't see an option for that particular chip in my software though.

That is Philips/Signetics 27C512. "12.7V" stands for programming voltage but you don't need to mind about that.
You can use any 27C512 DIP28 option for reading. To verify dump correctness just take a few dumps and check there are no differences.

That is more like microcontroller with internal ROM that works as keyboard controller. You don't need to dump that one.

The battery is no longer with us. R.I.P.. I took these pics months ago to remember how everything was plugged in because I soldered in a new battery. It now has a cellphone battery pack 😀

See the attached for the BIOS. I verified it 3 times. Seems to be good.

Do you think it's possible to come up with an identity for the board?

Any chance of getting photos of ONLY the mainboard and nothing but the mainboard, front & back.

from the bios code, I'm guessing it's an old MSI board, though not directly listed on theretroweb.
