I have a Sapphire Radeon HD 6850 that was given to me a very time ago because the fan stopped working and he wanted to get a new GUP anyway. Just looked at it for the first time and it looks like an easy fix. That said, the wire (guessing its the ground) is very thin.
I'm thinking it would just be easer to just get a 4 pin extension and splice on a new section? The current 4 pin doesn't have a lot of length to play with.
Looks like this would be a nice bump to the current HD 5770 that i have slotted for the core 2 Duo E7500 build that i'm working on now: http://x-bit.org/retroduo/
