I have wanted to do this for a long time and finally managed to get a 2nd Voodoo 2 card that matches the 1st one I had had squirreled away for a long time. Now the dilemma I face and am interested in what people think:

I have two motherboards I am considering for this:

Dual Pentium 2 Asus P2B-DS, lovely board but thinking dual P2's for a machine mainly playing Windows 98 3dfx games will be a waste.

MSI KT3 Ultra 2, AMD XP, more horse power and a slightly odd board for such a build, this is the way I am thinking at the moment.

So what do you think out there?

IMO, a Pentium 3 Coppermine / 440BX platform would be ideal for the V2 SLI.

Depending on which revision you have, the Asus P2B-DS might support Coppermines out of the box (or you could mod it to add support).
Either way, I think using the two Voodoo 2 cards with two CPUs would be ultra-cool (useless, but cool). 😁

Of course you also need to have two RAM sticks, two sound cards, two hard drives and two optical drives 😀

F'in A! 😁

Windows 2000 can be used to take advantage of dual CPUs. The only issue would be no D3D support for the Voodoo2 card (dual booting can be used in that situation).

Voodoo scales decently well. Use the Athlon XP setup if you can power it. Don't let guys talk you into a Pentium 2 being all you need for it. If you want to get your money's worth, target 1ghz or so CPU. Also, don't waste time with dual CPU.

So other video cards without hardware T&L too. 😀

But yeah, Voodoo2 cards works fine on the Athlon XP computer as long as suitable drivers are used.

the asus board without modding will accept a p3 600, it is a revision 1.5 , also was thinking dual boot with windows 2000. this is a difficult choice, still leaning towards the AMD at the moment, got a nice big power supply for the 5v rail. Might get both on a bench and swap around some cards to see if any have issues which will help make a choice later this week.
