Hello people.
I have a compaq deskpro en PIII at 1 Ghz that has just pci slots.
I was searching for an upgrade to the integrated gpu and found this:
Brand NEW nVidia Geforce FX5500 256MB
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32920228672.html

Did anyone tried this? Are they fake (like Phil from PhilcComputerlab got some videocards from china that were slower chips modded to look like better chips) or these could be for real?

Those are 128 bit versions of Fx video cards that usually come with slower clocked memory (e.g. 166 mhz instead of 200 mhz, in your case even slower, 133 mhz in gpuz), but beside the penalty for having a slower memory (which is smaller then having a 64 bit bus) they work fine and they are at least somehow honest about it (gpuz preview). Usually the gpu runs at the same speed as a 'normal' FX5500. If you need a pci GPU it can be a choice.

Nothing that would indicate this to be fake, however cheap components and low-clocks should be expected.

How would GPU-Z tell the difference between a 5200 and a 5500 besides checking what the BIOS ont he card is reporting it as?

They have the same exact specifications except for default clock speed.

The only way to tell for sure is to take the heatsink off and see what the GPU itself says on it.

The difference from fx5200 to fx5500 is minimal performance wise, assuming same gpu clock, same memory clock and same bus width for both cards (that can be 'seen' in gpuz). So if the chips are real fx5200 or real fx5500 is kind of irrelevant unless you want to be really technical about it.

I had one of these - it worked, that's about all there is to say about them. I found a few of the sort of AGP cards I really wanted, and then sold this one on Ebay.

I went for it and bought one. It arrived in a simple cardboard box.

I tested it a lot today in some games: about an hour in Quake 3 and about two hours in Starcraft. No problems.
But the test of time will determine how relaible is going to be.
I am not making any advertising, but is nice to see some good pci cards at decent prices. I am stuck with only PCI on my Compaq Deskpro EN.
I was getting sick of those horders that sell "rare" pci cards with 16mb or 32mb at insane prices (double the price I spent on this one FX 5500 PCI).
I post some pictures with some 3dmark benchmarks and some details from everest
- the new FX 5500 PCI
