Iwill xa 100 motherboard

Came across this on a local ad.

https://theretroweb.com/motherboards/s/iwill-xa100#expchips

Is it worth anything?

Pretty typical SS7 board. Does not support K6+ CPU, at least without a patch.

I must be some kind of standard: the anonymous gangbanger of the 21st century.

Hi Tomcattech,

I have this nice ATX Super Socket 7 board and it is a good performer. Its running a K6-2/500 rock solid, and a first test with a K6-2+/450 at 550MHz looks promising. My XA100 is PCB Ver 1.10.

Note that the latest 07/20/1999 BIOS version 32210 at https://theretroweb.com/motherboards/s/iwill-xa100#downloads comes in an A and B version.
The 32210A BIOS is for XA100 Ver 1.10 or earlier boards, and the 32210B BIOS is for XA100 Ver 1.2 or later.
As The Serpent Rider already indicated, these BIOSes don't support the (mobile) K6-2+/-III+ CPUs.

I have been working on a patched version for both the 32210A and 32210B BIOS but I still have to do some further testing on my XA100 board.
When you get this board, let us know and I should have a patched BIOS ready for you to try.

Will 32211A BIOS (from XA100 Plus) work with XA100?

Hi krysp,

No, the Iwill XA100 board can’t use the XA100 Plus BIOS. It needs the version 32210A or 32210B BIOS. These BIOSes already have full K6-2CXT/K6-III support, so you only need a patched BIOS for a K6-2+/III+ CPU.

The patched XA100 BIOS is now ready and tested and here is a copy:

Note that the XA100 board has low Vcore selections for 1.8V and 2.2V, but no jumpers for 2.0V or 2.1V.
My Ver 1.1 board uses a HIP6013 Vcore controller with a single feedback input. A resistor network and 7 jumpers are used to select the Vcore value. Only one jumper must be closed for the specified core voltage. Caution: If you closed more that one Vcore jumper, the Vcore will go UP, not down.

If you want to use a 2.0V K6-2+/III+ CPU, you can bridge the 2.2V jumper with a 3.3K resistor to get 2.0V. Or you can use the 1.8V setting. My 2.0V K6-2+/450 runs fine at 1.8V, even when overclocked to 500MHz! 😊

Please let us know how the patched BIOS works and what XA100 board revision you have.
Regards, Jan

Came here to thank you for saving the day! I picked up an IWILL XA100 Rev. 1.2 and used your "B" version of the BIOS in conjunction with an AMD K6 II+ 570mhz ACZ modded to 256KB and running at 600Mhz absolutely stable using at 100Mhz FSB and using the 2x multiplier to access the x6 multiplier setting.

Cheers!

Hi Artex,

Thank you very much for reporting success with the patched XA100 “B” BIOS!

As I have the XA100 Ver. 1.10 board, I could only test the “A” version patched BIOS so I’m happy you could test the “B” version on your XA100 Ver. 1.2 board. 😀
I will now publish the Iwill XA100 patched BIOSes on my k6plus page at the next update.

Cheers, Jan
