I was able to upgrade my 1993 IBM PS/1 (2155 Professional) from the stock 33 MHz 486 DX to a 66MHz DX2. Would I be able to replace that with a Am5x86-P75 AMD (AM486DX5-133W16BHC) which to my understanding is a 486, without a hassle?

A pentium overdrive 83mhz is probably the easiest option.

Some of the faster cpus need 3.3v so a interposer would be required. I have a project for this, and so does calamity lime. They also used to sell them, might be able to find a old one online.

But here is the catch, a pentium overdrive 83 is kinda as fast as those other options in many respects even with the slower clock.
