Yah the QVGA size resolutions look very authentic on a TV, 640x480 authentic-ish... depending on how good a VGA monitor you had back in the day, which is kinda $500 for the lowest end in 1990, vs $150 for a "fishbowl" that would score low in reviews in 1995, but that would have been about the same, but maybe did 800x600 as minimum by then. If you had a midrange monitor in the later 90s then you'll not be so impressed. But TVs for 800x600, you're getting into "a bit muddy" and smaller fonts are hard to read, you've got subpixel rendering going on by now unless you've got about 5% going into overscan. However, it can still look pretty good for high color or better palettes with "free AA" going on. I had a 32" tube TV down in the basement at my previous place and "for shits and giggles" ran the VIVO output of a GF3 into it at 1024x768 for some games like battlefield 1942 demo and ford racing, and it was pretty enjoyable, when other options at that size were limited or $$$$$

Unicorn herding operations are proceeding, but all the totes of hens teeth and barrels of rocking horse poop give them plenty of hiding spots.
