It's a CD changer, you can put multiple discs in and load them with the buttons. Nice collector's item, but other than that, no idea if it's any good for compatibility. I think I've seen this model in a YouTube retro video.

Considering that it is from 1997, it should be compatible.
An interesting item, but sadly i need a simple CD player with Play/skip/stop buttons. Some games need a manual music changing, sadly.

If you need the play/skip button, it becomes quite difficult to find drives, because only one in five or so seems to have it. Here are some others I found:

But I have also seen this drive with a production date sticker from November 2001, so it doesn't seem to be too new. Lite-On is not the quietest drive, but for DOS and CD Audio it should not matter. And it looks really nice.

The only drive i have that fits your criteria ( pre 2000 and skip button) that still works is this.

A 1998 Lite on drive with a slightly damaged bezel.
I tested it and it works in windows 11 reading burnt audio cds.

Like i said you can have it for free, but i would totally understand if you prefer a not broken one for 8 bucks 😁 .

Well, it's no problem if it's a little broken. I can try to repair it with epoxy resin.

For me its not a problem. For me its basically the same to send a packet in country or around the world.
I can choose wich ever Packet service you want. I would choose DHL they are quite competent here.
