ASUS VX97 MB PS/2 connector bracket - adjust connectors?

Hi, So I am working on a 166mhz mmx machine and I have a ASUS VX97 motherboard. Everything works great but there was no PS/2 mouse and all my attempts of getting a USB mouse working with a USB PCI board failed.

In the manual of the ASUS VX97 motherboard there is a page about an extra PS/2 bracket that one could purchase. Of course those are hard to get but I did find another one on pccables.com

One more photo of the back ( were the wires come in ) of the ps2 connector would've made it possible to verify the connections.

If you have a multimeter you can identify which pin of the ps2 connector indeed corresponds to each wire. Then you can search for the pinout and match every signal to the wire itself and connect it directly on the mainboard.

To extract the pines is very easy by prying the plastic tab to release the pin so you can 'redistribute' them into the connector.

I do have a cheap multimeter but I am so lost when using that one - I only understand the continuity beep one, 🤣.

the way I see it

brown is Mouse data
red is ground
green is mouse clk
yellow is +5v

The way the ps2 connector mainboard plug is populated should be fine.

Right to repair is fundamental. You own it, you're allowed to fix it.

Yess I'd say the same from the connector view, but if you want to double check it, the beep funcionatily is the one you need haha, good luck!
