Hi everybody,
While thinning out my collection I was going through some spare parts boxed and fished out an old AMD-K7100MNR53B 1000mhz slot A CPU.
The first thing I'm doing with my parts and cards etc is checking ebay and see what stuff is worth, which items I want to keep, which I want sell, because I've gathered a lot of stuff I know I'm never going to use and is taking up space, I think we've all been there.

Now I cannot for the life of me find anything on this CPU other than some specs. Very few forum posts, some obscure websites and some specs here and there. I can see plenty of 700 and 800 MHz models, but not this 1ghz model.

Can anybody tell me more about it?

What? Really?
How did you find it, I was looking for ebay, but no listings...

There are currently no active listings, so I checked completed listings and they they were.
Simply put, it's the fastest Slot A CPU, and the price reflects that.

Yeah, I saw that it was the first 1ghz, and fastest slot a, but I figured maybe like 50/75 bucks, some higher than the 600 and 700 for example.
And is it completed as in sold? Or just ended?

Now the question for me is, am I going to keep it in my collection? Next to my complete Edge 3D 😅 which is the most expensive thing in my collection now.

While it is the fastest original Athlon, there actually exists a 1GHz Thunderbird for Slot A which should be quite a bit faster.

Don't listen to him! Your CPU is (maybe) worth $20!
And me, being a good samaritan, I'm willing to buy it from you for that price (you know, just to save you the hassle of listing it on eBay)! 😁 👼

The 1 GHz Thunderbird is faster (but, surprisingly, not by that much).
However, I for one don't find it that interesting. At that point might as well just go with a socket A build. 😀

When you need money just sell it to one of those ebay whales that can spend way too much money on things.
Its a super great deal for them... If you are boring and have no personality, just buy overpriced things and people will like you anyway.

You know, I like collecting. What I like the most is finding old systems in my city area and hoping to find some goodies, either to collect, use or sell. And I've paid 50 to 100 here and there, but only if it was a bargain. I could never imagine paying more than 100 for any kind of retro stuff, unless I know I can sell it for more.

Trade for a 1GHz Slot A Thunderbird? Got two of those.

Maybe I can generate some benchmarks results to compare Orion/Pluto and the 'faster' Thunderbird. Although somebody already might did that.

i386 16 ⇒ i486 DX4 100 ⇒ Pentium MMX 200 ⇒ Athlon Orion 700 | TB 1000 ⇒ AthlonXP 1700+ ⇒ Opteron 165 ⇒ Dual Opteron 856

So basically the same CPU as on a socket a?

Yes that is correct as far as I know.

Also been half looking for a few years now, think I even have a saved search for either of the 1Ghz CPU's
Problem is any Slot A CPU above the 700Mhz mark goes for more then I'm willing to pay.
