I have a Logitech Wingman Extreme Digital but it requires "sorcery" to calibrate it and wears my arm out after lengthy sessions.
What do you all out there prefer? It can be USB or 15 pin, mainly using it for win98 games.

I've a Flightstick Pro but most of the CH range was considered pretty good.
Anything here from the mid 90's onwards would be ok I'd think.

Could you elaborate on this "sorcery"? I have one but it is very jittery (connected to a SB Live! game port). Maybe it's faulty potentiometers, but, maybe not? Logitech 440 drivers on WIN98SE.

Yeah mine was indeed jittery, probably "roughed up" before I bought it. Like you it was connected to the gameport but my sound card was a SB Awe 32 pnp (plug n pray?)

By luck I happened on another Logitech Joystick at a flea market. Can't remember the model but though the box was beaten up it looked rarely used
with the software/paperwork still unopened in the packaging. It works a magnitude better than the other, I'll try and get the model later.

I'm a big fan of the Microsoft Sidewinder Force Feedback 2, but they can be a bit harder to find these days. I really should get around to fixing my broken one so I can use it again!

If you're only using it in Windows 98, I also have enjoyed hooking up my Thrustmaster T.16000M to my Windows 98 PCs. It installs as a generic USB stick, but all the buttons and axes are recognized and it works pretty much hassle-free! The only problem is that I can't use the Thrustmaster software to create button maps for games that don't let you assign arbitrary buttons to functions (Wing Commander Prophecy comes to mind).
