hello

can any body confirm that:

msi 5128 v1 max ram is 256
and
msi 5128 v1.1 max ram is 512

i found contradicted info in internet and dont want to risk to buy 512 ram to my board!

anyone tried to install IDT WinChip 2-200mhz ?
cpu support list shows possibility.
But no matter what i do system shows only 66mhz. (tried a lot of combinations with 5switch and voltage jumpers)

thanks

MSI MS-5128 v1.1 support up to 512MiB of RAM. If you are planning to use it for DOS, don't install anything larger than 64MiB.
WinChip 2 200MHz has a external clock of 66MHz and a multiplier of 3 with a core voltage of 3.5V.

SW1=0 / 0 / 1 / 0 / 0 / 0
JV2=Open / JV3=Close / JV4=2-3 / JV5=Open / JV6=Open

Never trust what the bios displays.
Check with software how it benchmarks to see what speed it runs.
Had a lot of bios mismatches between displayed speed and actual speed, sure with lesser known/used cpu's like the IDT's

Agree ! Very few bios report Winchips proper from my little experience with them....

Hate posting a reply and then have to edit it because it made no sense 😁 First computer was an IBM 3270 workstation with CGA monitor. Stuff: https://archive.org/details/@horun
