Hi everyone,

I wanted to make a new video for my Palmtop Tube channel, which I havent done for nearly a year now,due to some health issues and moving house etc...'

But, I can't find my 16MB CompactFlash card (due to the move, it's probably hiding in a box somewhere) anymore.
This is my only CF card that works without having the acecard driver, which I used to put the acecard drive onto 200LX palmtops to get the other cards working.

So, without this card, I can't install the acecard drive on any 200LX (they were all packaged without batteries, so their ramdrives are empty),and as a result I can't read any of my larger CF cards to do any work at all...) I'm stuck...

I tried transferring the acecard driver via a null modem cable and laplink using dosbox on my Windows 10 PC, but it does'nt work as apparently you need a special laplink serial cable for it, and I can't find one online.
So, I'm completely stuck and can't make any more videos...And I have a great video that I want to start making ASAP.

Does anyone have any small CF cards that work with the HP 200LX (most that you buy off ebay don't work) without needing the acecard driver? (like my 16MB card I lost)
For the sake of creating more videos for my channel, could I buy one off you ?
Or, I have a 20MB PCMCIA flash card, I could mail it to someone with an old laptop with 16-bit PCMCIA slots, and you could write some files onto it, and then mail it back to me ? (I'll pay for the postage etc...)

Thank you for your time! 😀

Yours,
Terrence

available on ebay. 10pcs for 20$

"10PCS 16MB Sandisk Compact Flash Card 16MB CF Memory card SDCFB"

How do you know if it's compatible with the 200LX ?
Only a very small amount of cards work.
I have approx 25 cards all from sandisk/sundisk (most), canon and transcend,
mostly 8MB, 16MB, 46MB, 128MB cards,
and none of them work without the acecard3 driver...

Also, many sellers on ebay are chinese and supply fake cards nowadays...

Have you bought and tested this specific card on a 200LX palmtop ?

Thanks for your reply! 😀

I have some 128/256Mb CF cards I used on my divIDE. I could plug one of those on my 200LX and try, but keep in mind that I live on Spain and postage would be expensive.

I have traveled across the universe and through the years to find Her.

I'm selling some stuff!

You posted the following link in an old thread of yours, are your Sandisk cards the SDCFB models?

Do you have the 200LX serial cable? You don't need a nullmodem cable/adapter with it, just the cable.

Hey,

I don't know... All I know is that they did'nt work 😀 🤣
But, problem solved, I managed to find a 16MB old CF card in a box in my garage after an extensive search (I moved house a few months ago and much of my hardware is still packed in boxes),
the card works without requiring the acecard3.sys driver, so I managed to load it onto the ram drive and get most of the other larger cards working 😀

It would be interesting if someone has any in depth technical knowledge about what makes some cards work all by themselves, others work with the acecard3.sys driver, and most don't work at all...

Thanks for your time (everyone),
Cheers,
Terrence

Yup, I have the driver already,
and I'd really love to hear from anyone who has any detailed technical knowledge of this...

Cheers,
Terrence
