Just installed Wing Commander Prophecy on my Win98SE machine: P3B-F, P3-600 and a SB Live! CT4860. Sound is working fine, no errors reported in the system settings.
Only when I connect a joystick nothing happens. The gameport shows up in the settings but the list is empty. It‘s a Sidewinder 3D Pro - known working. Same with a Gravis Gamepad, nothing.
Before the P3B I had a GA-6BXC installed with a clean Win98SE install and that was the same story: no game controllers recognized, at all.
BTW, I did a clean install because of an annoying interwave message popping up (previous GUS PnP) after every Win98 start.
Any thoughts?
